NEOM, Saudi Arabia's megacity project, is going to announce its advisory board shortly, it said in a tweet on Saturday.
"Stay tuned for news about the NEOM Advisory Board: a team of the world’s leading minds and experts, #TeamNEOM combining the best and brightest global experts to develop the future," the tweet said.
NEOM is ensuring the foundations, plans and people are in place before construction, it added.
“We are developing the master plan, undertaking environmental assessments and evaluating bids for the construction of accommodation and offices for the engineers and supervisors to start work.”
In October 2017, Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, announced the launch of the $500 billion megacity, which will be set up on a total area of 26,500 square meters in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
The site will be the main gateway to the King Salman Bridge, linking Asia and Africa, and it will extend across the Egyptian and Jordanian borders, rendering it as the "first private zone to span three countries."
The project seeks to become a hub that brings together the best minds and companies to meet the limits of innovation to the highest levels of human civilization.
It was designed to outperform major cities in terms of competitiveness and lifestyle.
The project benefits from a number of unique features, with good climate and diverse terrain. It is being developed and established from scratch.
This gives the site exceptional opportunities that distinguish it from other international projects and cities that have developed over hundreds of years. The next generation is the cornerstone of the project’s infrastructure.
NEOM project is located in an area rich in wind and solar energy. It is an ideal environment for developing renewable energy projects, allowing the city to be supplied with energy at the lowest cost with continuous solar wealth.
The region is also rich in oil and gas, as well as natural minerals. The exploitation of these resources will contribute to the sustainability of the project as much as possible.
It offers valuable benefits to companies and individuals, meeting the needs of Saudi Arabia and attracting the best world companies.
