Nemanja Matic has called on former Man Utd stars now working as pundits to offer more encouragement when it comes to their views on the current crop of Red Devils.
The likes of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Roy Keane have all transitioned into punditry since bringing the curtains down on their respective careers.
All three are often forthright in their views, with Keane regularly criticising Paul Pogba and Neville often lamenting Alexis Sanchez's disappointing stint with the Premier League giants.
Matic, though, does not believe the former Utd stars are helping anyone by voicing such opinions and instead feels they need to be more encouraging in their stance, especially when it comes to youngsters.
"I think it's their job if they go on television, it's their job to say something. Sometimes they say the truth, probably, sometimes they criticise the younger players which isn't good, in my opinion," the Serbian international told Omnisport.
"Especially if you're an ex-player of Manchester United and you criticise the players and you know you've been there 10, 15, 20 years ago, it's not good.
"You have to help the players if you can. But they probably get money to work there and they have to say something."
Matic himself appears to have no plans yet to follow Neville and Keane into punditry with Utd last month triggering a one-year contract extension for the former Chelsea man.
After initially struggling for minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this term, the 31-year-old became a lynchpin in midfield for the Red Devils before the coronavirus outbreak led to the suspension of football across Europe.
Since then, the ex-Benfica midfielder has been keeping fans up to date with his workout routine, regularly using his children as weights in his home gym.
It certainly seems to have entertained his legion of fans, with each video having racked up hundreds of thousands of views - though it remains to be seen what the likes of Neville and Keane make of them.
