Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic says players “all share the same opinion” and are relieved by the collapse of the European Super League.
The Red Devils were amongst the six Premier League clubs to sign-up for the breakaway competition, causing widespread anger from fans.
Team-mate Bruno Fernandes was amongst the first from the clubs involved to voice his displeasure on social media whilst it was reported that Harry Maguire led players in confronting Ed Woodward over the plans.
Woodward has since confirmed he will leave the club at the end of 2021 as a result of the fall-out whilst Joel Glazer issued a grovelling apology to fans.
Midfielder Matic has confirmed players were in the dark until after their win over Burnley last weekend.
And he says there is a unanimous opinion that players did not want the new competition, which would have replaced the Champions League.
Matic told Sky Sports: “The first information that came to us was on Sunday after the game.
“What I can say is that on behalf of all players, we are happy that all clubs listened to the supporters, and I think this was a victory for football.
“We all share the same opinion - we are all with our supporters. I think that was the better decision for football that we don’t go to that Super League.
“That’s all I can say, because I didn’t know much about the Super League.”
Matic, alongside manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, was amongst those to address supporters who marched into the training ground to protest at the ownership this week.
Speaking this week, Solskjaer said: “First of all, I’m very happy that the fans have voiced their opinion, and that we've listened to them.
“In a strange sort of way, it's brought the football pyramid or community together. I think that's important and I'm very happy as I'm a supporter myself and there will be a day I come back and watch Man United and I want to watch a Man United team even with a fear of failure, you know, that's what I thought about it.”
