Nemanja Matic names Man Utd teammate he's missing most during lockdown

Nemanja Matic has admitted he is missing Man Utd teammate Axel Tuanzebe the most during lockdown.

The two stars have been self-isolating at their respective homes since mid-March like the rest of the United squad.

Players have been keeping in contact virtually via apps such as Zoom and Whatsapp, as they wait to hear whether the Premier League season will be resuming.

But Matic feels the whole team will be lost without the regular banter he shares with his Red Devils teammate.

"Which player am I missing the most? Axel!" Matic told United's official website. "I always like to speak with him, because we always attack each other – in a good [funny] way! In a good way!

"Always, the players like it when we are together in the changing room. They always expect what is going to happen next, so I miss him a lot."

Matic has been brought back into the fold under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having looked close to leaving the club earlier in the campaign.

The experienced midfielder is one of the elder statesman at the club, in a rapidly changing dressing room.

Solskjaer has placed an increased importance on drafting in younger players into the first-team set-up.

And whilst Matic concedes he does not share as much in common with the youngsters, he feels he still keeps a close bond with all members of the squad.

"I'm in good relations with everyone," Matic added. "Of course, with players who are close to my age, I understand [them] better. But, to be honest, I like everyone in the changing room.

"I like to share the funny jokes with Marcus Rashford, Jesse [Lingard]... but the players closer to my age like Juan [Mata], David [De Gea], of course, I understand better with them than Mason Greenwood, for example, because there is an age gap of more than 10 years."
