Nemanja Matic looks into Bruno Fernandes' Manchester United future

Nemanja Matic believes Bruno Fernandes is going to be a very important player in the future of Manchester United.

The Portugal international has been the catalyst for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side's improvement since his arrival to the club in January.

With two games left to play this campaign, United will secure Champions League football with a top four finish, if they pick up six points.

While Solskjaer’s side are still in the Europa League with the second-leg of their last-16 tie against LASK to come after the Premier League season finishes.

"He's a great player. I think we all appreciate that he is with us,” Matic told Sky Sports when asked about Fernandes.

“He has a lot of quality in his legs and he brings something extra to our team. He's going to be a very important player in the future of Manchester United.

"We try to have a good connection on the pitch, especially because when the team recovers the ball, we have to find the players in front of us as soon as possible.

“We need to always find that connection and at the moment it's working really well. Of course, we know it didn't go so well in the Chelsea game, but we have to accept that and respond against West Ham."

While Matic also opened up on the mood inside the United camp after Sunday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

He said: "We all know that we didn't have our best game on Sunday.

"That hurts a lot, especially when you play in semi-finals and finals, but we have to remember that we had 19 games unbeaten behind us.

“We are a young team, yes, but even the more experienced teams lose games.

"Of course, we have already spoken about the Chelsea game and we will analyse it, but now is not the right moment to think that much about it.

“We have to forget it quickly because now we are playing what I think, for me, is our most important game of the season against West Ham.

"I saw the guys after the Chelsea game. They were sad and angry because we lost, but I expect the team to respond and we will see if we are ready for that. I'm sure the guys will give everything for the three points."
