Nelson Agholor to stay put with Eagles as $9.4M salary is now guaranteed for 2019

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor wasn’t a free agent, but it certainly must feel like he won the lottery after the March 13 deadline for his 2019 salary to be guaranteed just passed. With the new league year kicking off at 4:00 PM, and the Eagles not trading or reconstructing his deal, Agholor will earn $9.4 million this season, in spite of the Birds acquiring DeSean Jackson.

While a guest on 97.5TheFanatic earlier Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicated that the Eagles were going to keep Agholor and that they really liked him as a player.

“They’re going to keep him. They like him. […] It’s a situation where they like him an awful lot and they plan to keep him.”

With Agholor back in the fold, the Eagles potentially have one of the most dangerous offensive units in all of football. It’ll be on Mike Groh and Doug Pederson to figure out to blend Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Agholor, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert and a handful of running backs, into one efficient, unselfish group.

Last season, his fourth in the NFL, Agholor had a career-high 64 receptions, but his yards and big plays took a drastic dive from the previous season.
