The opening of Manhattan’s shiny new Hudson Yards complex was the place to be last night - and the grand opening of the first Neiman Marcus in New York City was no exception.
The Texas-based group (which also owns New York institution Bergdorf Goodman) feted the opening of their highly anticipated multi-level New York flagship in the complex with an exclusive VIP cocktail party in the store. Fashion abounded, along with Instagram moments, including the back of a Yellow Taxi and a neon wall.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the new store is its food halls, reminiscent of the British department store experience. The store itself is excellently curated and easily the most interesting addition to the New York shopping experience.
Guests sipped mini bottles of tequila from fancy straws and nabbed hors d’ oeuvres, including mini burgers, mini tacos and mini pizzas.
Karlie Kloss, clad in a slim black suit, took selfies, Joan Smalls mingled with the crowd, dancing to beats provided by Ty Sunderland. Katie Holmes looked lovely enough that everyone did a double take when they passed her, and Whoopi Goldberg stopped to shop the clothes on offer.
Later on in the evening, Charli XCX entertained the crowd with her hits “Boom Clap” and “1999." Liza Minnelli, legend that she is, appeared to screams of delight from everyone.
Industry heavyweights also included Diane Von Furstenberg, Derek Blasberg, Ken Downing of Neiman Marcus, Linda Fargo of Bergdorf Goodman, Fern Mallis, Brad Goreski, and Samantha Barry of Glamour.
