Neilston co-boss Chris Cameron insists his side have to rediscover their clinical streak or risk dropping more points as they chase the Conference C title.
The Farmer’s Boys made it six wins from seven on Saturday thanks to Stephen Stirling’s first half strike.
But Cameron is adamant his side could have had six or seven had they not been so wasteful in front of goal, a trait he revealed is still concerning him despite their fine form which sees them sitting just one point behind table-topping St Roch’s with two games in hand.
He told Express Sport: “We didn’t start very well as Lanark got right in our faces and made it frustrating for us.
“We should have been a couple up by half-time and our goal was a bit fortunate to be honest. Their centre back tried to run it out from the back and Stirling robbed him to score.
“I’m not joking when I say we should have had six or seven. The chances we were creating were unbelievable.
“One of their committee members said it could have been ten after the game, and he was probably right.
“It’s really frustrating because the result makes the game look tight but really we were very wasteful and we need to stamp that out.
“It could easily have come back to haunt us, which happened when we drew with Vale of Leven.
“We should have won that one but when you don’t take your chances you run the risk of getting stung.
“It’s a big concern and something we highlighted to the boys after the game.”
Neilston are back in action tomorrow night when they travel to take on St Anthony’s.
Cameron admits he’s looking forward to the end of midweek fixtures, with the congested schedule finally set to abate over the next few weeks.
He said: “I’m glad this crazy fixture schedule is nearly over.
“It’s been really tough on the boys. The fixtures have been bonkers with guys self-isolating and picking up injuries.
“Some have got sore muscles where they didn’t even know they had muscles before!
“We always knew it was going to be a tough start to the season and we’re content with the points total we’ve got so far.
“If we can get maximum points from the next two fixtures we’ll be delighted with the start we’ve had.
“We’ve only conceded four goals in seven games as well, so the defence is certainly doing a great job so far.”
