Neil Warnock urges EFL to make this Leeds United decision

Former Elland Road boss Neil Warnock has begged the FA and EFL to allow Leeds United the chance to finish their season at some stage - but not before they can guarantee the safety of the players.

The 71-year-old was speaking to TalkSPORT as he expressed his sympathy for the fans, players and coaching staff at Thorp Arch who are currently facing the threat that their hard work this season could amount to nothing.

The FA and EFL, along with the Premier League, are set to learn key details on how the rest of the season could be decided this afternoon with UEFA set to cost a video conference with a crucial statement expected to follow.

But Warnock hopes that good news is on the cards for Leeds who he believes were well on their way to automatic promotion back to the top flight.

“I think they should all finish when they can,” he said.

“The work that has gone in is immense. I know a manager who is in charge of Truro, who are top of the league with nine games to go.

“Their fans have travelled everywhere. How is it fair to cancel it?

“They have to finish it at some stage," he continued.

“The outcome for the likes of Leeds and West Brom, it just doesn't bare believing that we could cancel their season.

“Even if it takes us until September, they have to finish the season.”
