Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock has appealed for the Nottingham Forest hierarchy to be "patient" with Chris Hughton after the Reds suffered their sixth Championship loss in seven matches.
Forest have suffered their worst start to a season for more than 100 years and find themselves rock bottom of the Championship with just one point.
Pressure continues to mount on Hughton following a 2-0 home defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday night.
Speaking to the Teesside Gazette, Warnock appealed for the Reds to stick with the current Reds boss.
He said: “I said to Chris before the game, ‘I’ve never felt so nervous before a game, so god knows what you must think’.
“Even at my age, you still get those feelings.
“That’s one thing I won’t miss when I do pack in - those feelings an hour before kick-off. It’s gut-wrenching.
“It’s a difficult time for Chris right now, but it’s a good squad and they’ve got some good players coming back in.
“If they are patient, it’s only seven games gone so it’s nothing really.
“I’ve been in this game 42 years now so I’ve had my fair share of these moments. You’ve just got to believe in yourself.
“They’ve got a decent squad and sometimes you need a bit of luck. They were unlucky against Cardiff."
Hughton has been under pressure for some time amid a dismal run but, when asked about a report from the Telegraph saying he is set to leave, he said: “That’s news to me.
“Unless somebody tells me something, then my responsibility is to go over this game and try to pick a team that can pick themselves up and get something at Huddersfield."
