Neil Warnock's live TV tribute to Cardiff City fans moments after relegation was confirmed

Neil Warnock paid tribute to Cardiff City's loyal fans as he spoke about the club being "alive and kicking" despite suffering relegation from the Premier League

A 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday sealed the Bluebirds’ demotion at a sobering occasion in the Welsh capital.

But Warnock, who stopped short of confirming whether he will be in charge next season, insists the club is still in a good place.

The veteran manager praised the efforts of his troops over the course of the season and spoke passionately about the transformation since he took the reins.

"You have heard this lot (Cardiff fans), they have been fantastic,” Warnock told Sky Sports.

“They have been unbelievable and fabulous all season for me. I’m proud of them and the lads. They have tried hard.

“We showed our limitations today. That’s why we are where we are. The club is alive and kicking, though, which is the main thing.

“When we arrived here it was almost gone. That’s the most important thing.”

Sol Bamba claims Neil Warnock WILL stay at Cardiff City as he makes big promise

Warnock guided Cardiff to the Premier League against the odds last term, recording an eighth promotion in his management career.

This season has seen his side battle to stay in the top flight, taking it to the penultimate week of the season before their fate was sealed.

When asked if he would be at the helm leading the side next term, he replied: “I’ve got to let things settle and not do anything rash.

“I will be working next year, I will have a year somewhere. I am looking forward to that challenge again now.

“I have no idea [if I will be at Cardiff next season].

The Cardiff City v Crystal Palace player ratings as star ends on a real low

“It’s been a great experience for me and probably my best job ever to have done what we’ve done with the club. I’m right proud of the club.”

Warnock, 70, is under contract until 2020 and will discuss his future with Cardiff owner Vincent Tan and chairman Mehmet Dalman in the weeks ahead.
