Neil Warnock asked Cardiff City job question live on radio and his answer was blunt

Neil Warnock says there is no truth in speculation linking him with a return to Cardiff City.

Bluebirds boss Mark Hudson is a man under pressure, with the club marooned in 20th place in the Championship and fighting another relegation battle.

Although they have tightened up at the back under Hudson's stewardship, the goals at the other end of the pitch have dried up.

It has seen the heat turned up on Hudson, with national media reports stating Warnock would be under consideration for a stunning return to Cardiff City Stadium should the Bluebirds decide to pull the plug on their second manager of the season.

On Jim White's talkSPORT show on Friday morning, Warnock was asked directly about the veracity of the rumours.

"Will you go back there (management)?" White asked. "1,500 games under your belt, and then I read the other day you're being linked with Cardiff City.

"We know that Mark Hudson is in charge there, with all due respect to Mark, your name has come up, any truth to it?"

Warnock replied: "No. I mean... 1,603 games, Jim!

"I think you are always going to get linked, aren't you? I think someone linked me with Portsmouth as well, I think I'm going to get linked with that.

"I don't work until end of February, March time, Jim (tongue in cheek). I do March and April that's all I do! So it's a bit early for me to be going back in."

Warnock may have played down a return to south Wales but he left the door open to full-time management again, despite retiring from the game last year.

Asked if the right opportunity came along would he consider it, he said: "You can never say never, can you? I have enjoyed doing the shows, and doing the podcasts and things. I did one with Steve Bruce last week that comes out next week, when I was talking to Steve, we could go on and on, it's fabulous listening to memories.

"I've enjoyed that type of it. I enjoy me Twitter, doing silly things on there. I never thought I'd do things like that, I used to shake my head in the dressing room when the lads were on Twitter."

Hudson himself was quizzed on the speculation at his pre-Leeds United press conference yesterday, and he batted the rumours away emphatically.

"I've spoken to them behind the scenes and it's 100 per cent not true," Hudson said. "I know my job is to get results regardless of speculation of any situation where we are.

"Spoke to the chairman yesterday (Wednesday) and told there were rumours. That's part and parcel of football, but 100 per cent it's not Neil Warnock in that respect. My job is to concentrate and then look forward to a big game against Wigan.

"I've been in football a long time. Speculation is speculation and it will not deter my focus from what the job is. That is something I will continue to do - and that was put to bed yesterday."
