Alcohol, particularly champagne, has had more than a few namechecks in this module of the Leveson inquiry in senior police chiefs' hospitality registers. So when Neil "Wolfman" Wallis was asked if he ever drank champagne with his police friends, he deftly replied: "I don't like champagne … I prefer a dry white wine." By the end of the session Wallis, who chuckled a lot for a man in a tight corner, was advising Lord Justice Leveson on media regulation, reports the Guardian diary.
