Neil Redfearn insists Newcastle United's young guns are getting better

Neil Redfearn insists Newcastle United’s second string are getting better game by game - but they must learn from their mistakes.

The Toon coach felt the Magpies showed Macclesfield Town too much respect at the Moss Rose at times in their EFL Trophy clash.

and sadly Luke Charman’s terrific equaliser wasn’t enough to take anything from the game.

Redfearn said: “In the first half we were too cautious and we gave them too much respect.

“I thought we did great in the second half and created more chances. The second goal from them was disappointing especially as we were on top. But this is the process.

“It’s bricks on top on top of bricks.

“We have got better game by game and in the second half at Macclesfield better in the second half.

“It is just adding them together but keeping people aware that it is development football.

“Although it is about getting the lads used to winning, it has to be in their make up.”
