Neil Patrick Harris' husband David Burtka has revealed to fans that he recently underwent a nine hour operation on his spine.
The 45-year-old How I Met Your Mother actor took to social media to update his fans about his recovery after undergoing three spinal fusions.
David's husband Neil Patrick Harris also appeared to see the funny side, and shared a video of his partner lying in his hospital bed while on morphine.
In David's snap, the actor held his thumbs up and cast a big smile while he rested in a hospital bed.
"Some of you have been asking that have not seen the @nph post-" David began in the caption.
"Monday I had a 9 + hour surgery on my spine. 3 spinal fusions!! I am all good and already recovering.
He added: "Oxy, Tylenol and muscle relaxers are helping immensely. Go to @nph to see the video of me going in and out of a morphine high. It’s quite entertaining."
It's A Sin star Neil - who has been married to David Burtka since 2014 - shared a hilarious clip on social media that featured his husband just hours after surgery.
David claimed in the video to be on morphine, which meant that he was in a lucid state as he chatted to his husband.
In the clip, that Neil shared with his 8.5 million Instagram followers, David talked about the 'new fashion for 2021' before pushing a button for what he says was morphine.
Neil can be heard giggling in the background as he recorded his beau.
The actor also wrote: "A few hours after surgery. Not sure David will remember saying any of this... but damn, it makes me laugh. I appreciate his positive energy so so much."
Despite feeling a little confused as the morphine wore off, David is on the mend and being supported by his loved ones.
On his Instagram story, the television star also showed off several gorgeous flower bouquets he had received.
The couple's 10-year-old twins Harper and Gideon also drew some colourful pictures as they wished their dad well.
Alongside a picture of their drawings, David wrote: " Plus my incredible kids!! They are the best!! So grateful! So lucky- and so high on OXY!"
