Neil McCann points to Celtic 'mindframe' as Rangers legend makes title comeback claim

Confident Rangers hero Neil McCann insists the title race is over for Celtic after the New Year derby defeat.

The Hoops slipped 19 points behind their rivals in the Scottish Premiership, albeit with three games in hand, as their hopes of securing 10 In A Row were dealt a major blow at Ibrox.

The double digit advantage help by Steven Gerrard 's side is enough for pundit McCann to firmly believe that the balance of power is shifting across Glasgow, as he claimed Celtic have been dealt a major mental blow by the 1-0 first-footing defeat.

When asked if Celtic can catch Rangers on BBC Sportscene, McCann said: "No I don't think they can. I think Rangers have built up too big a gap and have too much of a margin for error.

"They can afford to make some mistakes, but Celtic can afford none."

When asked about the two remaining Old Firm games with Neil Lennon's side having played three games less, he added: "I understand that but when you take away the games in hand that Celtic still have to go and win, and there is no guarantee they will do that now considering the mindframe they will be in.

"It's 10 points plus the goal difference. It's virtually four games Rangers would have to lose and Celtic winning every one of those.

"I just think Rangers are too strong at the minute and with the nature of where they are, I always felt if they could get themselves in front they would be really good frontrunners and I just can't see Celtic getting back to them."
