Neil McCann in Jim McIntyre blast as former Dundee boss bites back at successor

Neil McCann has launched a bristling defence of his record after current Dundee boss Jim McIntyre insisted the former gaffer played a part in the club's relegation.

Dundee's fate was sealed on Saturday when Tony Andreu struck a late winning penalty to seal a 1-0 victory for Hamilton .

Current boss McIntyre said McCann , who he replaced after just eight games this season, should carry some of the blame for the club's woeful league campaign.

But McCann has hit back, stating the players he signed would have improved had he been kept on.

McCann said: "Don't start throwing dirt backwards over your shoulder.

“The players I recruited, I think they would have improved.

"I didn't want Jim McIntyre to fail because he took my job.

"Dundee has a big place in my heart."

Speaking after Dundee's relegation was confirmed, McIntyre said: "Dundee have been fighting relegation for the last three years.

"For me there needs to be a cultural change. Any manager's biggest job is recruitment.

"Mine hasn't been good enough. The previous managers' haven't been good enough.

"It's been proven because the results prove that."
