Neil McCann fumes at Ryan Porteous' Rangers red for 'trying to do Joe Aribo'

Neil McCann says Ryan Porteous has a 'nasty streak' that needs stomped out of his game.

And the pundit claims the Hibs star knew exactly what he was doing when he saw red for a reckless challenge on Joe Aribo.

Rangers were on the ropes against Jack Ross' team at Ibrox with Kevin Nisbet's early strike rocking the champions.

But the tide of the game turned when Porteous was flashed a red card after going in from behind on Aribo.

Hibs held out for another 30 minutes of football but Kemar Roofe's equaliser on the hour set the stage for Alfredo Morelos to become the hero.

The red card was heavily debated on social media with some feeling Porteous made a genuine attempt to win the ball.

But McCann, speaking on Rangers TV after the game, insists the 22-year-old can have no complaints.

He said: "Unfortunately, at 22 years old, Ryan has got a switch where he just sees red.

"He knows he has done wrong there but he can't recover it.

"It's over the ball. He probably wins the ball with his hamstring, but he's trying to do Joe Aribo there.

"I would like to see the switch removed from his game. He's actually a really nice young man, but on the pitch a nasty streak comes out.

"I like a nasty streak, but he needs to control it. He could have given Joe Aribo a really bad one there."
