Neil McCann delivers Rangers vs Celtic verdict with 'endurance' highlighted as key at Hampden

Neil McCann has tipped the League Cup Final to go all the way but reckons Rangers' endurance will see them over the line.

The BBC pundit delivered his verdict on the big Hampden showdown during Sportscene as he predicted how the game would go. He reckons Michael Beale and Ange Postecoglou will have to take in 90 minutes plus an additional 30 with goals for both sides taking it into extra-time at the national stadium.

However, he reckons his old club might just 'shade it' and not only extend their unbeaten run under Beale but lift the Viaplay Cup. Both sides go into the contest in flying form with Celtic not giving Rangers an inch in the race for the Premiership title. Despite that undefeated run under the new boss they've been unable to claw back at the nine point gap.

But something needs to give in Mount Florida today between the pair and former Light Blues man McCann reckons his old side will emerge victorious and take the trophy back to Govan.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, McCann said: "This will go to extra-time I think. It will be a scoring game then go to extra-time.

"Rangers have shown that they’ve got a wonderful power of endurance when it gets to that stage. They've got form and they might just shade it.

"I’ve had my say in terms of Hampden. When it’s at absolute full capacity, it’s a good atmosphere.

"I still think it could be better in terms of the club sides. But when the Old Firm come to Hampden to fight it out in a cup final, it's a very, very special occasion.

“I've come out on the winning side a couple of times and it feels good. You don’t want to lose because you’re remembered equally as if you win it."
