Neil McCann baffled by Rangers penalty incident as pundit laughs 'it's a really strange one'

Laughing Neil McCann branded Rangers penalty "strange" after Scott McMann's handball proved costly at Ibrox.

The Dundee United defender threw out a hand in the Premiership clash and referee Alan Muir quickly pointed to the spot.

James Tavernier stepped up to score in the narrow victory in Govan.

Former Rangers star McCann admits he couldn't believe what he was seeing as the Tangerines defender threw his arm out at the ball.

When asked for his thoughts on the incident, he told Rangers TV: "A really strange one.

"We get the benefit of the angle from behind the goal which is probably the clearest one, but when this is whipped in I've no idea what Scott is doing.

"He tucks his left hand in behind his back. His left is tucked in, but his right is flapping (laughs)

"No question it's a penalty, and no question about the quality of the spot-kick from James.

"Trevor Carson is a good goalkeeper, and he guesses the right way, but it's whipped into the corner."
