Neil Lennon warns Celtic fans about repeat of Parkhead protests against St Johnstone

Neil Lennon has warned Celtic fans he doesn't want a repeat of last Sunday's Parkhead protests.

Supporters flocked to Celtic Park last weekend to vent their anger after the Hoops crashed out of the Betfred Cup to Ross County.

Police Scotland were called to the scene to maintain order as the club launched an investigation after missiles were launched at the players.

Celtic host St Johnstone on Sunday as they look to get back to winning ways.

Asked about the prospect of supporters turning up again to express their frustration, Lennon said: "Well, hopefully they will be celebrating a victory because that is what we will be trying to do. As we always do.

"I touched on what I thought of it on Sunday and if it is going to be reminiscent of Sunday, it is not what we need or what the players need at the minute."

Celtic's losing streak continues as they came up short against Milan in the Europa League at the San Siro despite taking a two goal lead in the first half.

But Lennon took positives from the performance and hopes his men can build on that against the Saints.

He added: "Home or away, it doesn't matter.

"We have to put in performances that reach the levels we reached last night.

"I saw plenty of signs last night that we are more than capable of that which please me."
