Neil Lennon voices Celtic referee concern and urges time management rules to be followed

Frustrated Neil Lennon has voiced concern over referee Don Robertson's time management in Celtic's 6-0 win over Ross County on Saturday

It was a very comfortable afternoon for the Hoops with the victory lifting the Scottish champions back to the top of the Premiership .

And while there were plenty of positives for Lennon's side to take from the rout, the Celtic boss was left puzzled by the amount of extra time with his side in an arms race with Rangers at the top of the table.

With five goals being scored in the second period, and both sides making three substitutions each, Lennon was shocked only one additional minute was added by Robertson.

But the manager insisted he was happy with his side's impressive display against Ross County , which he has labelled as the best performance he has witnessed since his return to the Parkhead dugout.

He told Celtic TV : "I did say to my staff 'we'll only get one minute here', because the game is away and it's very flat.'

"And that's not consistent with the law, we made three subs, Ross County made three, you're looking at least three minutes there.

"It may have come in handy to have an extra couple of minutes where we could have added one or two more.

"But that would take away from the overriding emotion for me which was one of immense pride in that  that performance."

Meanwhile, Lennon is backing a host of rising academy stars to follow in the footsteps of Jeremie Frimpong and seize their senior chance when it comes their way.

He added: "Jonathan Afolabi will come under the category as well, Lee O'Connor, Luca Connell, so we're building, not just for the present first-team squad, but the talent underneath that.

"You've got Karamoko Dembele, Armstrong Oko-Flex and you've got Kerr McInroy coming back from a long-term injury pretty soon and Daniel Arzani.

"So there is young, hungry talent underneath what we already have as a really solid first-team squad."
