Neil Lennon urges Celtic goal hero Lewis Morgan to 'believe' as manager backs him for key role

Delighted Neil Lennon hailed his Celtic achievers after they secured group stage glory for the first time in the club's history with a 3-1 win over Rennes.

The Irishman watched as his side made it four consecutive wins in the Europa League to secure top spot in Group E.

And he was over the moon with the display of Lewis Morgan who grabbed his big Celtic chance as he netted the opener in the comprehensive victory.

Ryan Christie doubled his side's lead before Mikey Johnston scored on his return but it was Morgan's all-action display that caught his manager's eye.

The former St Mirren star replaced club talisman Odsonne Edouard and showed he can handle the Euro stage.

Lennon said: "He did well tonight.

"He just has to believe in himself a little bit more, because we believe in him.

"Physically he is a specimen, he's a great athlete, he's got pace and he's good with both feet.

"He's come up trumps tonight and hope that gives him the real shot in the arm he deserves."

And the Hoops boss also had kind words for the rest of his stars and the raucous crowd, minus the Green Brigade, who roared his side onto victory.

He added: "It's been a superb campaign. The players have given me everything and more.

"It's great for the club, it's the players really, to keep the 100 per cent record at home is really important.

"We are in a good place but we aren't taking anything for granted.

"The fans were magnificent and the players fed off of that."
