Neil Lennon soaks up his Celtic glory day as he roars 'I'm in a unique band of one'

Overjoyed Neil Lennon believes Celtic's enthralling penalty shoot-out win that sealed the quadruple Treble will turn his side's season around.

The Hoops boss admitted he didn't watch the penalty shoot-out live as he paid a heartfelt tribute to principal shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Peter Lawwell.

A relieved Lennon looked like a man who had the weight of the world lifted off his shoulders after Kris Ajer decisive strike in the shoot-out sealed a trophy haul that may never be broken.

And the 49-year-old gave himself a minute to take in the fact he is now the first man in the history of Celtic to land a clean sweep on the pitch and in the dugout.

He said: "It's a monumental achievement for the club. I would like to dedicate it to Mr Desmond, Peter and the board for their unwavering support,

"It's been a difficult time, and the players, they really, really felt it the longer the game went on, you could see the anxiety coming in, it showed.

"It's a very special moment for me on a personal basis, I have been here 20 years and I think I've become the first player to do it (the Treble) as a player and a manager.

"I'm in a unique band of one and I am very, very proud.

"I am very grateful to the people who have supported me and achieved this along the way."

And Lennon admits he couldn't bring himself to watch the nerve-shredding penalty drama as he retreated to a quiet place to watch the thrilling climax to one of the all-time great Scottish Cup Final.

He added: "I couldn't watch them, I watched him on the screen, I just wanted to watch it in peace and quiet."

And he now believes his side can kick on and close the 16-point gap Rangers have accrued in the Premiership during the Hoops' wretched run.

He said: "I think that's really important that we find some consistency.

"I think the weight of all this expectation is gone, that's 12 trophies in a row, I think we just focus on the league and cup now.

"They get no respite though, it's almost like they don't get to be there but we're going to try and get them back down to earth over the next couple of weeks.

"I think so (pressure being eased), everyone expecting it, you can see that, Cup Finals and trophies aren't easy to win.

"Sometimes people make it look easy but it's not easy to win. You'll never see that again."
