Neil Lennon snubs Sky Sports interview after Andy Walker 'spreading lies' row

Celtic manager Neil Lennon declined to be interviewed by Sky Sports on Wednesday night after a furious war of words with Andy Walker.

The Irishman was incandescent on Monday when he raged against the Scottish Government, the SFA and pundits over the flak he and his club has copped for going to Dubai on a winter training camp.

He called out Walker, who had launched an impassioned tirade over the trip, labelling it a "jolly".

Lennon demanded an apology from the pundit and banned them from talking to himself or his players. But although he refused to talk to Sky, Celtic players were later interviewed by the broadcaster.

He raged earlier in the week: “I want an apology from him. You cannot go there and falsify what went on with a total misrepresentation of reality. Until then, you won’t be getting anything from me or my players."

And Lennon kept to his word by refusing to take part in a pre-match interview, although that was not the case with his squad.

Respected host Eilidh Barbour explained the manager’s abscence. She said: "We won't be hearing from Neil Lennon tonight, he's unhappy with some of the media coverage after the club returned from Dubai.

"But we can bring you some of the thoughts from the Celtic dressing room, Moi Elyounoussi..."

The 49-year-old did perform some media duties, though, and was involved in an argument with the BBC before ending the interview early.
