Neil Lennon slams 'embarrassing' Rangers red card record

Neil Lennon cranked up the heat ahead of today’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox by branding Rangers’ red card record an EMBARRASSMENT.

The Celtic boss praised his own side’s self-control while having a pop at Steven Gerrard’s side, who’ve had 12 players sent off this season in all competitions

Lennon insists the Glasgow derby isn’t a place for ‘token hard men’ and says if Gers’ lose their heads again this afternoon, his Hoops players will pounce on it.

He said: “Much has been made of Rangers’ lack of discipline – and so it should be.

“If there’s a chink there, we’ll prey on it. Discipline is important this fixture our own players have handled it very well.

“I can’t speak for the opposition but their last game (Allan McGregor red card v Hibs) proved there’s a lack of discipline within their ranks.

“It’s not just been in games against us, it’s been apparent all season. It’s embarrassing, really.

“Our discipline is very good. It’s important that we play aggressively on Sunday but in a controlled fashion.

“You have to ignore their crowd and play the game, not the occasion. I don’t want any token hard men out there. I want them motivated and well-disciplined.

“There might be bad moments in the game. But we need to withstand that and make sure we’re a threat to them at the other end.

“Quietening their crowd will help us. There will be an anxiety around their stadium that we can feed off. It’s important we tune into that.”
