Neil Lennon shrugs off Celtic fan pressure and managerial audit by insisting he’s 'comfortable' in his position

Focused Neil Lennon insists the ongoing review into his managerial performance is only in his mind when he is asked about it.

Supporters of the Premiership champions were eagerly awaiting an update from the club with chairman Ian Bankier announcing on Tuesday the process is continuing as they look to avoid "hasty decisions that we might regret.

Embattled Lennon has faced calls to go from supporters and former team-mates with his Celtic side way behind rivals Rangers as they march to a first Premiership title in a decade.

But the 49-year-old says he is "comfortable" as he aims to make it five consecutive wins when his side take on Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

He said: "That's natural every season, regardless whether the club announced a review in December, you are always being reviewed.

"You are never secure in your role as a manager anyway, especially when you have been through difficult times.

"But I am quite comfortable with the way my position is at the minute and until that changes I will give my best every day.

"I haven't taken any notice of it (review) really, the only time I think about it is when you guys bring it up. It has not affected my work or thought processes at all.

"It is a new thing for me to go through a process like this. I haven't experienced it before.

"I can't tell you if there is going to be definitive answers that the supporters want or not.

"At the minute I am just carrying on from day to day and game to game."

And the Hoops boss admits that while he has been focusing on results on the pitch he can't disagree with Bankier when he addressed the results in recent months.

But the Irishman believes his team are in position to strike back with £20m in the bank despite announcing a £6m half year loss.

He added: "I do agree with them with the performances, the on field results have been disappointing and that's something you are looking to rectify between now and the end of the season.

"In terms of the finances, we are not immune to the difficulties of the pandemic but we are still quite strong and robust."
