Neil Lennon set for Celtic reunion as bitter Hoops exit faces revisit at fan event

Former Celtic boss Neil Lennon will come face-to-face with supporters for the first time since his bitter exit from the club.

The Irishman left his role as Celtic boss back in February after overseeing a disappointing campaign that ended with the club failing to achieve 10 In A Row.

They finished the campaign 25 points behind rivals Rangers and Lennon took the brunt of the criticism along with the Celtic board for their handling of his position.

Fans had been protesting outside Celtic Park from as early as November and they were unhappy with how the club was being run as they chased history.

Lennon was critical of the lack of support from fans and the criticism of the players as well as the trouble that occurred during protests, with objects thrown at the team bus.

Now Lennon is set to appear at a lunch with former team-mate Paul Lambert, although it hasn’t gone down well with fans.

The event is being hosted by 1st Star Events and will include a VIP meet and greet, interview and Q&A with both players.

But some fans are unimpressed with Lennon for taking part and say it’s a ‘lack of self awareness’ from Lennon to get involved.

Lennon has been criticised regularly for appearing on radio discussing Celtic despite his own failings last season.

Lennon admitted earlier this year that the season had been ‘joyless’ and a ‘new breed of fans’ was ruining the campaign.

He said: "Considering in December we had just finished off another treble, two months later you are out the door.

"The whole thing seemed joyless. There was no credit it for it. It was just 'yeah Celtic have won another treble, move on'. There was a lack of joy around the place and that was really difficult."
