Neil Lennon says YES to Celtic as new boss agrees 12-month rolling contract

Neil Lennon has accepted the offer to become Celtic 's permanent manager.

The Irishman has signed an 12-month rolling deal that confirms his second stint as boss after guiding the club to an historic treble Treble.

Following the dramatic 2-1 Scottish Cup Final victory over Hearts on Saturday, Lennon was told the job was his if he wanted it in the shower area at Hampden.

Parkhead chief Peter Lawwell later revealed the details would be ironed out "in the coming days".

And now the club have announced Lennon has once again taken up the post he vacated in 2014 to become Brendan Rodgers' full-time successor.

Lennon answered the call to step in shortly after Rodgers joined Leicester City and he went on to deliver the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup, capping another domestic clean sweep following the Betfred Cup Final win earlier in the season.

Lennon lost just one of his 14 games while in interim charge, prompting Lawwell to describe him as the only man for the job.

The club ignored approaches from several other managers and settled on Lennon during an impromptu board meeting as players and fans celebrated their ninth straight domestic trophy at Hampden.

Speaking about the decision, Lawwell said: "It’s a fantastic job and I’m sure there would be people looking from afar who had an idea of coming here.

“We had approaches from many, many agents, many representatives of managers across the board.

“We put them in the file, just left it and kept our word to Neil, really.

“We had a mini board meeting right after the game. Dermot’s here. Dermot, myself, the chairman (Ian Bankier) and Tom Allison decided what to do.

“We knew that Lenny was getting the job. We decided that we should kill the speculation on a high, get it out and let our supporters know and the media know.”
