Neil Lennon says Hearts' sacking of Craig Levein 'leaves a bitter taste in the mouth'

Celtic boss Neil Lennon says Hearts sacking Craig Levein ‘leaves a bitter taste in the mouth’.

Levein was “relieved of first team managerial duties” by the Tynecastle club yesterday after Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat at St Johnstone proved one bad result too many for Ann Budge.

Lennon , who gets on well with Levein despite being in direct opposition over the years while in charge of Celtic and Hibs, wasn’t impressed with how the ex-Scotland boss was treated.

"I am very sorry for Craig. I know how much he put into the job.

"Obviously the results weren't what were probably expected for Hearts.

"He was a good football guy and gave everything for the club over the last 20 years.

"It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth the way some people have reacted or treated him in the past few weeks but he has kept his dignity and I wish him well for the future, whatever he decides to do."
