Neil Lennon's son Gallagher set for Northern Ireland debut as Partick Thistle starlet called up for U18s double header

Celtic legend Neil Lennon's son Gallagher has earned his first Northern Ireland under 18s call-up after choosing to represent the country of his father rather than Scotland, where he was born. The 16-year-old currently plays for Partick Thistle and has predominately turned out in defence for the Jags youth team but he can fill in as a midfielder too.

And will now get the chance to make his mark on the international stage for a double header against Austria next week. Both clashes will take place at the home of Dungannon Swifts and Lennon Jr will be hoping to replicate the career of his father who went on to make 40 caps for the Green and White Army's senior side between 1994 and 2002.

Lennon Jr is one of two new call-ups to Gerard Lyttle’s squad alongside Cliftonville winger Sean Moore, who is one of nine players who are based at clubs within the Danske Bank Premiership - the highest division in Northern Ireland. Celtic are also represented in the squad with 17-year-old goalkeeper Kai McClean in line for a cap.

Lennon was sacked as Omonia Nicosia boss in October and the 51-year-old, who also managed Hibs as well as the Hoops in Scotland, is reportedly interested in succeeding former Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough as the nation's new manager.
