Neil Lennon's rallying Celtic team talk as Hoops stand on brink of title

Kris Ajer has credited boss Neil Lennon’s rallying team talk in the weekend win over Kilmarnock with putting Celtic on the brink of the title.

The Hoops now need just a point to secure an eighth successive flag.

And they can tick off part two of their treble Treble tilt with a draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Ajer revealed Lennon’s crucial speech at half-time was pivotal as Jozo Simunovic nabbed a priceless second-half winner over Killie.

He said: “We knew Killie would make it extremely difficult for us. We were a bit all over the place first half.

“But the gaffer had a great talk at half-time. It was about getting the team more compact and energy in our offensive play.

"It worked well and our second half was a lot better.”

Celtic face another special date on May 25 – when Billy McNeill lifted the European Cup in 1967 – in the Scottish Cup Final with Hearts at Hampden.

Ajer added: “It makes it even bigger when it’s an anniversary.

"We just want to keep performing and finish on a high in the Cup Final.”
