Neil Lennon's Celtic frustration surfaces as board support query earns 'I don't know why you're asking' response

Peeved Celtic boss Neil Lennon hit out during a TV interview when probed if he still retains the full backing of the Parkhead board.

The under-fire Irishman insists he can turn it around but pressure is mounting in the wake of Thursday's wretched 4-1 defeat at the hands of Sparta Prague.

Lennon revealed during his pre-match briefing before travelling to the Czech capital that he still retains the support of chief executive Peter Lawwell and the board but a similar line of enquiry after the game was was quickly shot down.

Rory Hamilton wanted to know if anything had changed in the wake of the latest sorry result but the BT Sport presenter quickly silenced.

Lennon said: "I don't know why you're asking me that when we only touched on it yesterday.

"I don't see any reason why one game and one day would change that."

Hamilton's follow-up of whether the humiliation in Prague also earned short shrift from the 49-year-old.

"No," was the answer as the Celtic boss appeared visibly frustrated with the line of questioning.

The Hoops boss is convinced he is the man to turn things around despite his side coming being knocked out of the Europa League with two group games to spare.

He said: “Of course I do. I know this group better than anybody.

"Look, at the end of last year we lost to Rangers and everyone was writing us off.

“We were getting slaughtered from all and sundry, whether it was our own supporters or everyone else, so we’ve been here before."
