Neil Lennon's Celtic critics branded ridiculous as baffled Ross County boss hails Hoops manager's 'amazing job'

Ross County boss Stuart Kettlewell has backed Neil Lennon to turn things around at Celtic, hailing the 'amazing job' the Northern Irishman has done at Parkhead.

Lennon is under increasing pressure after his side stumbled at Hibs at the weekend.

The slip-up allowed Rangers to extend their lead to 11 points at the top of the Scottish Premiership and the Hoops' Ten In A Row prospects are looking bleaker by the week.

But while many have called for Lennon's head, Kettlewell - whose County side will face them in the Betfred Cup on Sunday - believes some of the criticism thrown at his counterpart have been way over the top.

“I think Neil Lennon has done an amazing job," Kettlewell said.

"You get asked questions about your upcoming opponents on a weekly basis but to take over the reins from Brendan Rodgers and do what he has been able to do has been massive.

“He has obviously got stiff competition on where they want to go and what they want to achieve this year.

"You can see Rangers are absolutely flying. I watched them again at the weekend and thought they were excellent”.

“A lot of clubs are improving and the standard is probably going up and that makes the challenge even greater.

“To be throwing him into question and questioning what he has done as a manager is a bit ridiculous."
