Neil Lennon reveals talks with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond as Hoops edge closer to treble Treble

Neil Lennon held talks with Celtic supremo Dermot Desmond before guiding the club into yet another Scottish Cup Final.

The Hoops interim boss remains unmoved following a week of speculation as he laid down another marker in his quest to land the job full-time with a 3-0 win over Aberdeen.

Lennon was forced to contend with Roberto Martinez, Andre Villas-Boas and others being linked with the job he currently occupies and admits it's been a difficult week.

But goals from James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic swept aside the nine-man Dons as Celtic edged closer to an historic treble Treble.

Lennon revealed he held talks with majority shareholder Desmond just 24 hours before securing victory at the national stadium.

Asked about the prospect of getting the job on a permanent basis, Lennon told BBC Sportsound: "I just keep going, I have no idea.

"I spoke to Mr Desmond yesterday, I speak with Peter every day.

"There's a lot of speculation about people being interviewed. They don't do that sort of thing, they let me get on with the job and if and when they decide who gets the job then they'll speak to the right person.

"It's been a tough week, with the build-up and the speculation, we've dealt with it very, very well.

"I'm delighted, more than anything, with the level of performance today."

Neil Lennon's post-match interview cut short as Celtic boss gets to speak for just 15 seconds on Premier Sports

It was a comfortable afternoon for the Hoops, blighted only by a sickening clash of heads that landed midfielder Ryan Christie in hospital.

Christie collided with Dons star Dominic Ball, who was shown a second yellow card after careering into his former Pittodrie team-mate.

Lennon believes Christie may have suffered a fractured cheekbone or eye socket but expects him to return in time for the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts on May 25.
