Neil Lennon reveals Leigh Griffiths Celtic return gripe as he warns opponents somebody's set for 'good going over'

Neil Lennon reckons Leigh Griffiths should have marked his big return with a hat-trick.

But the Celtic manager is adamant the one goal his hitman did get along with another 80 minutes into his legs prove he can be a huge asset to the champions in their title battle.

Griffiths added to David Turnbull’s opener as Lennon’s men took care of basement side Ross County.

The Parkhead boss handed his attacker a first Premiership start of the campaign and got the pay-off with his second-half header, but admits the striker could have had a treble having missed two golden opportunities beforehand.

Lennon said: “The minutes will do Leigh a lot of good and he scored a great header. It was probably the hardest chance of them all. He should have had a hat-trick.

“He got better as the game went on, his movement was really good and he scores great goals.

“Griff needs to get sharper and he’ll say: 'Well, you need to play me.'

“I think the more he plays and stays fit he’ll be an asset for us going forward.”

Turnbull’s second goal for the club laid the platform for the win and Lennon believes his team are gearing up to give someone a hiding.

The boss, who confirmed skipper Scott Brown and defender Shane Duffy should return from injury for Saturday’s game at Hamilton, continued: “David’s was a great goal.

“Jerry (Frimpong) did very well to pick David out and he has the knack of being in the right place at the right time.

“Overall he had another very good performance. I am delighted with him.

“Jerry was also a real plus and (Diego) Laxalt was very good for us. The two centre halves also played really well and I am happy with the clean sheet.

“Odsonne (Edouard) should have scored too and we missed some chances to rack up a really good scoreline.

“The quality of the chances we made really pleased me. We should have won the game by more.

“If we keep playing like that we’re going to give somebody a right good going over."
