Neil Lennon reveals the Celtic power move against Rangers that he was willing to be laughed at for using

Neil Lennon has lifted the lid on the pre-match planning involved in catching Rangers on the hop in Sunday's dominant win at Ibrox.

Celtic headed into the game as underdogs but the Premiership champions underlined their status as the team to beat in Scotland with a 2-0 victort.

Goals from Odsonne Edouard and Jonny Hayes earned Celtic all three points but Lennon insists it was the first action of the game that set the tone for a day to remember.

Edouard wasted no time as he booted the ball into touch from the opening kick-off as the visitors penned the rivals in from the get go.

Celtic were looking to avoid being caught out like they were when James Tavernier netted after two minutes during their last Ibrox visit.

And Lennon insists he was willing to accept a few sniggers from the home fans to jumpstart his victory blueprint.

He told the Celtic View: "We took the game to Rangers and dominated the start of the game.

"Everyone might have laughed at the kick-off but we wanted to play in their half which we didn't do in the corresponding fixture when we conceded a free-kick and were a goal down.

"There are many ways to skin a cat. You have to quieten the crowd and and we did that to pefection.

"From my own experience, you have to press with aggression sometimes.

"In this fixture, we felt it was the right way to go about business."

And the Hoops boss admits the all business start to proceedings was discussed beforehand but reckons it was skipper Scott Brown who had the final say before kick-off.

He added: "We’d talked about it previously but I’m assuming it was Brownie who said, ‘Right, let’s do this!’ It’s all right doing it but you have to back it up. Our players did that.

“We’re a front-foot team so let’s play on the front foot. They went out and executed that perfectly."
