Neil Lennon reveals Damien Duff Celtic successor update as 4 names in mix for key Parkhead role

Hopeful Neil Lennon admits he is closing in on appointing a new coach after Damien Duff’s departure earlier this month.

Celtic are poised for to add to their backroom staff with the likes of former Parkhead stars Stephen McManus and Darren O'Dea touted for the key role.

Duff was highly regarded at the club but called time on his stay with the Premiership champions to spend more time with his family.

Lennon hopes to be able to fill the vacancy shortly as he looks to step up preparations ahead of the Hoops 10 in a Row title tilt.

He said: “We’re hoping to have someone in place next week. We’ve identified three of four options but I can’t say anything yet.”

The Hoops boss admits strengthening his squad remains key but knows keeping hold of Odsonne Edouard could be the best bit of business this summer.

He added: “I was absolutely delighted with Odsonne last season. He really kicked on with his all-round game and his contribution in terms of goals.

“I was delighted for him on a personal level to win the Football Writers Player of the Year.

“He was absolutely thrilled and it’s probably the accolade to win in the Scottish game. It was great to hear how he is tunnel visioned in terms of what he wants to achieve here next season.

“We’ll do all we can to keep him happy for as long as possible.
