Neil Lennon reveals Celtic transfer plans as he delivers brutal Vasilis Barkas verdict

Neil Lennon hopes Celtic will bring in defensive reinforcements after losing Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen.

The youngster joined the German side as the club announced his departure just before their 2-0 win over Hamilton.

Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard were back among the goals as they dispatched Accies with ease to get back to winning ways.

Celtic could be forced to dip into the transfer window in the coming days for a right-back, and a centre-half, but Lennon admitted there are no guarantees.

He told BBC Sportsound: "I don't know, I will speak to Peter Lawwell tomorrow. We've not been immune to this pandemic financially so we felt it was good business.

"The timing of the deal was the right thing to do with the club so where we have money to spend we'll just have to see what comes up over the next few days. We are looking at one or two players.

"Jullien is out for a long period of time and Frimpong is gone so we might look at the full-back and the centre-half area."

Scott Bain returned to the side as Vasilis Barkas was unexpectedly dropped for tonight's Premiership clash.

And Lennon admitted he had no option but to leave out his summer signing due to his current form.

He added: "We went with (Barkas), but we don't think his performances have merited keeping a place in the side.

"He still needs time to develop of the rigours of the game here.

"He needs to physically develop and hasn't settled at the club.

"He needs time to get used to the British game. I think you'll see the best of them as we go along, but at the present time, I think going with Scott was the right thing to do."
