Neil Lennon responds to Celtic transfer claim that threw Ajer and Ntcham's futures in doubt

Neil Lennon has dismissed claims that the representatives of Olivier Ntcham and Kris Ajer approached the club to 'ask for their valuations'.

The Hoops boss said players were free to leave Celtic Park if they were unhappy after their shock Champions League exit on Wednesday night.

That prompted reports claiming Ajer and Ntcham were among the individuals Lennon was referring to - and their agents had approached Celtic to see what it would take for their respective client to orchestrate a move away from Parkhead.

Asked if that was something he was aware of, Lennon said: "No, not at all."

The Northern Irishman said after the 2-1 defeat to Ferencvaros: "The players have to be better, get your attitude right, get your mentality right.

"Some of you don't want to be here? Leave.

"I just want the players who want to be here."

But the Celtic manager has since backtracked and insists he wants them to stay at the club and concentrate on their Ten in a Row push.

He added: "We want them to settle down.

"We want them just to do what they do best, they're great lads.

"I understand that sometimes there can be interest but this is a great club.

"You want harmony, and I'm not saying there's been any agitation at all but sometimes you can lose a little bit of focus.

"We just want them to get back on it and concentrate on the job that lies ahead.

"At the end of the day they're good players, and once they realise what excitement and what we have in store this season hopefully that will persuade them to knuckle down now and really concentrate on the job at hand."
