Neil Lennon recalls iconic Hibs aeroplane celebration as he takes 'worth it' dig at Rangers

Neil Lennon says his iconic aeroplane celebration against Rangers was worth the fine and the touchline ban that followed.

Former Hibs boss Lennon was overseeing his side's first season back in the top flight when they faced Rangers on the final day of the 2017-18 season.

A six-goal win would have seen Lennon's team pip Rangers to third so they set out to go for the throat - eventually resulting in a frenetic 5-5 draw.

Hibs were 3-0 up within 20 minutes but a remarkable Rangers comeback saw them lead 5-3 heading into the final 20 minutes.

But late strikes from Vykintas Slivka and Brandon Barker sparked wild celebrations around Easter Road, with Lennon venturing onto the pitch with his arms spread wide.

Speaking on the BBC's Football Breakfast Show, Lennon was asked about the game and had a broad smile on his face as he discussed it.

"That was one of my favourites. We needed to score six to finish above them," he said.

"So we sent them out and said 'just go for it.' We were 3-0 up after 20 minutes, I turned round and looked at the main stand and it was just chaos.

"We nearly went 4-0 up, and then Rangers counter-attacked and scored, and you felt the air going out of it a little bit."

Of course he was asked about the famous celebration, and recalled the fine and touchline ban that followed. He says it was all worth it, however.

"It was the day of the celebration, yes. I got fined, banned, the lot...but it was worth it."
