Neil Lennon ready for Albian Ajeti Celtic disciplinary fight as he backs 'obvious' penalty call

Neil Lennon has confirmed Celtic will appeal Albian Ajeti’s SFA charge for simulation.

Record Sport broke the story on Thursday the "astonished" Hoops would appeal a notice of complaint issued by the SFA's disciplinary department.

Ajeti has found himself in hot water after he went down under a challenge from Kilmarnock goalkeeper Colin Doyle in the 4-0 win on Wednesday night.

The keeper looked to have caught the Switzerland international as he got to the ball and the striker went down to earn his side a spot-kick.

But it was announced the following day the SFA would be offering the 23-year-old a two match ban for diving.

Neil Lennon wasn't happy with the turn of events and was adamant that his striker has no case to answer.

He said: Boss Lennon said: "It is a penalty. He has had contact to the back of his foot/ankle.

"The keeper has made contact, he has gone down, the referee has given a penalty. I don't see any simulation.

"Simulation is where there is no contact. There is obvious contact, you can see that quite clearly.

"I don't understand why these charges have been brought up against Albian, we don't agree with at all so we will be appealing it of course."

The Hoops will defend their striker on Monday at a fast-track hearing.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard called for consistency in the SFA'S disciplinary process earlier in the week after admitting he could not defend Alfredo Morelos' stamp on Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous, which brought a three-game ban for the Colombia striker.

Asked about his thoughts on the process, the manager said "I don't have many thoughts on it. I haven't really been in and around it this year but on this charge, we feel aggrieved.

"He will play tomorrow and we will obviously defend it as vigorously as possible next week."
