Neil Lennon puts Chris Sutton in his place as Celtic boss shuts down Rangers poser

Focused Celtic manager Neil Lennon sidestepped the chance to wax lyrical about rivals Rangers ahead of the biggest game of the season.

Scottish football will come to a standstill when the pair do battle in the Betfred Cup Final at Hampden on Sunday afternoon.

Lennon is looking to mastermind a victory that will secure Celtic their 10th consecutive domestic trophy and put a dent in Steven Gerrard's side.

The Hoops boss spoke to former team-mate Chris Sutton ahead of the big one and insists he remains solely focused on his own team.

Lennon told BT Sport: "Our form is good going into but you know as well as anybody that form goes out the window in a Cup Final so we've got to get our preparation spot on.

Sutton then asked: "Steven Gerrard, what have you made of the job he has done so far?"

Before Lennon shut it down: "Don't ask me that, it's not my place to comment on other managers, certainly your biggest rival."

But Sutton was unperturbed and kept going, adding: "Can i ask you about the Rangers team?"

Lennon, laughing as he responded, said: "No, no."

Before Sutton tried one more time, asking: "Do you think they've improved under Steven Gerrard?"

Lennon, eventually conceding: "Yes, but then I think what gets overlooked is we've improved as well."

The Record Sport pundit then joked "Thanks for this, Neil" on Twitter over the clip.
