Neil Lennon provides update on Arsenal transfer pursuit of Kieran Tierney

Neil Lennon has told Arsenal that Celtic will not budge over their valuation of defender Kieran Tierney.

The Gunners have had two bids rejected for the left-back, with Celtic holding out for around £25million for the 22-year-old who has spent his entire career with the Scottish giants.

Arsenal's latest bid is believed to have met that valuation but the Scots were unhappy with the structure of the bid and will only part ways with their star if they receive more cash up front.

And Hoops boss Lennon has given an update on the situation, while also praising Tierney for the way he has handled the transfer saga this summer.

He told Sky Sports : "Obviously the window in England shuts on Thursday. It can be an unsettling period for any player.

"We have rejected two bids and the clubs know the valuation that we value Kieran [Tierney] at and it's not been met.

"He is dealing with it very well. We are living in an age now where it's coming at you from all angles, especially on social media. He is only 22. We have to be mindful of that as well.

"He is trying to keep his feet on the ground and stay focused on the present."

Celtic captain Scott Brown echoed Lennon's views, hailing the conduct of Tierney amid interest from the Premier League giants.

Asked about how the defender has reacted, the Celtic skipper said: "He’s fine, he’s just come back from an injury.

"He’s looking forward to trying to get himself back into training and get himself back on the pitch as well.

"There’s always going to be speculation on top-quality players and that’s what Kieran is."
