Neil Lennon provides Kieran Tierney injury update as he admits Celtic defender could still leave

Neil Lennon has revealed Kieran Tierney could be fit again next week but the Hoops boss admits he has no idea if the left-back will still be at the club when he returns.

Tierney stayed behind in Glasgow as his team-mates headed to Romania and Arsenal are expected to make a third bid for the Scotland international before the English transfer window shuts tomorrow.

Asked if there was any change to the Tierney
situation, he said: “No. We were talking about it on the plane over here as it’s all gone a bit quiet, which is surprising for me.

“I know these deals can get done at a minute to twelve. I’d be surprised if there wasn’t another offer for Kieran, but delighted.

“He’ll be fit in a week or two. He still has some abductor pain, but I think the pubic problem is starting to settle and he’s over the double hernia.

“I know there is talk of him being out for another eight weeks, but that’s nonsense. I don’t know where that’s come from.

“He’s missed the whole of pre-season, but I’d say he’s more or less a week away from getting back integrated to the training.

“Add another week or ten days on top of that before he’s ready to play.”

Lennon dismissed stories linking Celtic with ex-West Ham striker Andy Carroll and Brentford defender Rico Henry and says Tierney’s situation has no major bearing on his own transfer plans.

The manager, who also rejected injury fears over Leigh Griffiths ahead of tonight’s tie, said: “We have done no business this weekend or made no real inroads. We have money to spend if needed.

“If we keep Kieran, it’s brilliant because we’ll be keeping a quality player.”
