Neil Lennon opens up on lack of job offers since Celtic exit

Neil Lennon admits he is surprised by the lack of job offers since leaving Celtic in February.

The 50-year-old enjoyed two spells with the Hoops and won countless trophies, but he endured a disastrous final campaign as the Parkhead side failed to clinch a historic 10-in-a-row.

Rangers were 18 points ahead of their fierce rivals when Lennon departed, but the Northern Irishman believes people have forgotten his previous achievements - including spells at Hibernian and Bolton - in management.

He claimed that his record stacks up well compared to most managers as Lennon expressed his surprise that he's not been offered another job in management, reports Football Scotland.

"It’s frustrating," Lennon admitted to the Sunday Post.

"Some people probably assume that I’m not looking for a return to management because of the way it ended at Celtic. But nothing could be further from the truth.

"I’m still relatively young, as hungry as ever and believe I would bring something to any club. And I’d like to think my track record compares favourably to most.

"Some players just got to the end of the road. The pandemic hit us badly, because once we returned to action, we were never the same again. I still look back with immense satisfaction at what I did achieve. But one or two people have short memories.

"It is a bit of a mystery. I think I’ve done a decent job wherever I’ve been."
