Neil Lennon offered permanent Celtic job after winning domestic treble

Celtic's interim manager Neil Lennon has been offered the job on a permanent basis.

The Scottish giants secured an unprecedented domestic triple treble with a thrilling 2-1 William Hill Scottish Cup final win over Hearts at Hampden Park.

And moments after that triumph, the club confirmed that Lennon, who took charge in February after Brendan Rodgers left for Leicester CIty, have rewarded the boss with the full-time job.

Celtic said on their Twitter feed: "We are delighted to announce that Neil Lennon has been offered the job as permanent Celtic FC manager and the details will be confirmed in the coming days."

The Scottish champions fought back from a goal down to beat Hearts in the Scottish Cup final to clinch the 'treble-treble' on Saturday afternoon.

Celtic have now won all three domestic trophies on offer - the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup - for the third consecutive year.

Celtic won the League Cup in December, beating Aberdeen 1-0 in the final, and sealed their eighth consecutive league title earlier this month.

"You'll never see this again," Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who succeeded Rodgers in February, told the BBC.

"In footballing parlance, it's impossible (to put this into words). That's nine trophies out of nine, it's remarkable."

Ryan Edwards gave Celtic a scare with a goal for Hearts in the 52nd minute but French striker Odsonne Edouard grabbed a brace, the second a penalty, to give Lennon's side victory and a place in history.
