Neil Lennon makes Celtic transfer pledge as he lays out plans for Leigh Griffiths

Neil Lennon has warned title rivals Rangers he’s ready to add four new players to his Celtic squad next month.

The Hoops gaffer is keen to strengthen a side that sits five points clear in the Premiership after beating Aberdeen 2-1 yesterday, with a striker top priority.

Lenny wants cover for Odsonne Edouard to boost Celtic’s nine-in-a-row bid.

He has been linked with Slovenian Andraz Sporar plus Swede Sebastian Andersson and said: “We’ll bring in a minimum of two.

“We’re working away on that – there’ll be no more than four.

“It’s difficult to get the right quality in January but if you can strengthen, if you think it will make you better and have the funds, then it makes perfect sense.

“And doing it in January means you get them in the building for a few months before the start of next season.”

Lennon insists any new striker won’t mean Leigh Griffiths will go out on loan.

He revealed the Scotland striker will put a shift in during their winter break in Dubai to ensure he’s ready to fire on all
cylinders in the new year.

He said: “The players will be working hard, it’ll be like a mini pre-season. We will do some intense work.

“There will be players moving on because the squad needs a bit of stream- lining. But even if we get a new striker in, Leigh won’t be going out on loan.

“He’s too good a player and can be an asset for us in the second part of the season. He’s not making any waves to go and he gives us something different.

“He has that striker’s instinct and movement. Every day he’s looking better in training.

“Dubai will be important for him. He knows that and he’s very willing.”
