Neil Lennon makes Celtic Ten in a Row admission as boss feels 'let down' by players

Neil Lennon says he feels "let down" by some Celtic players after his side suffered another setback against St Mirren.

The Parkhead side were outfought once again as the Buddies ran out 2-1 winners at Celtic Park.

St Mirren took an early lead through Kristian Dennis, before Odsonne Edouard levelled with a cool finish. Ilkay Durmus then fired the visitors back in front as Shane Duffy blundered at the back.

Celtic huffed and puffed in the second half, but couldn't break down a well-drilled St Mirren side.

Lennon was asked if some players have let him down this season, to which he replied: "Honest answer? Yes."

"They just look...it can't be confident.

"Because there's no real pressure on them and there are no fans here.

"There's a lack of belief or a lack of quality, and they've got the quality they've proved that over the years.

"For whatever reason - and it's not just individuals it's collective - really poor goals defensively and offensively really not good enough."

Asked if the pressure of Ten in a Row has been too much for the players, he added: "I think so, yeah.

"I wouldn't disagree with that. They're human beings at the end of the day and maybe they've felt it more than others, or maybe some don't understand the monumental size of the achievement that could have been.

"There's definitely been a disconnect from the team that ended before the lockdown and the one that started the season this year."
