Neil Lennon makes Celtic 'goalposts moved again' claim as he blasts Albian Ajeti SFA charge

Celtic boss Neil Lennon insists 'goalposts have been moved' around his club after Albian Ajeti was served with a notice of complaint for simulation.

The Hoops boss was left baffled by the decision from the SFA to offer his player a two game ban after he had won a penalty during the 4-0 win over Kilmarnock.

The Swiss striker went down under a challenge from Colin Doyle during the second half of the victory with referee Kevin Clancy having no doubts in pointing to the spot.

Michael Stewart had claimed it set a 'dangerous precedent' to charge Ajeti and felt it was the wrong thing to do because there is contact there.

And Lennon agreed with the pundit as he insisted things had been changed against Celtic 'again' and wanted the charge thrown out.

He said: "I agree, I heard Michael talking about it last night as well.

"It’s a new thing, if you want to call it that. It looks like the goalposts have been moved again on Celtic.

"We’re not happy about it and we will defend it as vigorously as we possibly can.

"This isn’t to make a point, this is for us to protect the player. He feels aggrieved as well that it’s been brought up but hopefully common sense can prevail and we can move on as quickly as possible.

"You never know, I’m not going to be there, and you just never know. Three referees looked at it and there’s clear contact. When there’s contact it’s not simulation then, so why this has been brought up I don’t know."

Stewart had said: “This is a dangerous precedent because the contact is there. Now what we are doing is, it’s not a case of looking at the pictures and you assess if there was contact and ok, there was simulation and they’ve gone down.

“Everybody that has watched it can see Ajeti knows exactly what he is doing, he’s manufactured the situation, but there is contact.

“So who is now to assess whether that contact is enough to receive a retrospective two-game ban?

"I think it’s a dangerous precedent when you’ve got the contact there, as little as it is; I think you need to be definitive on this and there is no way of doing that when there has been some contact in it. I think it’s a dangerous precedent.”
